System requirements

DeviceTool is compatible with a wide range of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11, as well as Windows Server editions 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025. The application supports both 32-bit and 64-bit system architectures, ensuring flexibility across different environments and hardware configurations. To run DeviceTool successfully, the Microsoft .NET Framework version 4 must be installed on the target system.

FAQ

► How does DeviceTool work?

DeviceTool connects to a local or remote machine on TCP port 135 to get device information via WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation). It displays the devices in the GUI. Further information in the DeviceTool help page.

► Do I need additional tools?

Only if you would like to enable and disable devices remotely. Then you need file psexec.exe in the DeviceTool folder. You can download psexec.exe for free at: https://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/sysinternals/bb897553.aspx

► How much does DeviceTool cost?

DeviceTool is not open source, but free of charge - even for professional use.

► Does DeviceTool display the device status in real time?

Yes. It polls every 2 seconds.

You can download DeviceTool here. The download consists of a .zip file, which contains three .exe files and two configuration files.

Installation

DeviceTool is a portable software. It does not require any installation and does not make any Registry entries.

1. Copy the 5 files into a folder, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\DeviceTool.

2. Copy file psexec.exe into the same folder.

3. Run DeviceTool.exe as administrator.
